Wedding Wednesday Week #1

I have had lots of requests for ideas or recommendations for a Brides big day!  And since we are planning a wedding right now we thought this might be a great time to start.  Whether we share helpful advice and deals we find or share our mistakes...   We hope you enjoy Wedding Wednesdays!!

We all know there is so much to plan and so much to do..  From the Save the Dates to the Honeymoon...  But I did learn something from my wedding 15 years ago that the PHOTOGRAPHER is a vital part of the big day!  They are the ones who will capture those moments that you might miss as it's impossible to be in every place at the same time.

Today, we have a local professional photographer as a guest here on the Blog and we are lucky enough that she will be shooting the wedding...
Lindsay of Lin-Z Photography...  Click Here to learn more about Lindsay & See some of her work

I asked her for her best advice for the bride...

"My best advice ..Don't be afraid to ask questions. . Just do your research. Browse through the photographer's work to get a good feel of what they bring to the table. It doesn't hurt to hire a photographer that has contracts available for signing that outlines all expectations etc. This can alleviate any questions or issues ahead of time.
One important tool that I have utilized as a photographer is to have a "second" shooter. It is nearly impossible to capture every single moment with one camera so I bring a second photographer with me to the wedding

Advice for the day of: Trust your photographer and enjoy your special day.

Lindsay has been gracious enough to give away a MINI-SHOOT for someone in the Boise (or surrounding area) To enter the giveaway fill out form below.  Good Luck and Thank you Lindsay!!

Kim's Card Kits & Giveaway!!

Have you ever needed that last minute greeting card or not have the time to get to the store??  I know I have those times..

So, I was beyond excited when this package arrived from  Kim's Card Kits..  I opened it up and was so impressed with these premade card KITS,.  She makes it so easy to put together a single card or a set of cards. Can you imagine the giving a set of handmade cards wrapped up with a pretty ribbon?

Everything is precut, measured, etc. all you do is put the cards together.  How clever is that! Great step by step directions for the novice or enough supplies to create your own design. The product that she supplies are top quality product.. The Ladybug is on a spring and wobbles as do the Monsters..

It gets better!  Kim surprised me with a second package with Photos Books and they are just ADORABLE and FUN to make.  She also carries other fun supplies like Rub On sentiments, Baker's Twine and more!!

Now for the fun!!  Kim just released her newest kit and it was in my mail TODAY!!  PARTY TIME!! I was so EXCITED!!

Lil Angel Krafts & Giveaway

I am excited about this spotlight.. One of the perks of Facebook is reconnecting with friends.

While living in Lancaster I met a young Mom, expecting her 2nd baby and that was 13 years ago..  Fast forward..

Let me introduce you to Jaimie Ostrander she lives in Anthem AZ with her family.

After moving to AZ in Oct of 2011 and becoming a mom for the third time, she decided she needed to do something from home. She always loved crafts and creating things. So she put her talents into Lil Angel Krafts.

She started with hair bows and wooden crafts for her little  girl and friends and it just got bigger from there.  She now makes custom chalkboards, cork boards, white boards, wooden signs and custom wooden home décor. She loves it when a customer asks her to create that one of a kind piece that amaze them. She  absolutely enjoys  being able to create and share her work with others.

I think these would make great gifts..  We know the holidays will be here before we know it.  I know I plan to order one for my daughter's wedding

Jaimie is has been kind enough to offer a personalized item for our drawing...  The first picture shows what the drawing is for....  I wish I could post all of them..  To see more be sure to check out her page

If you are unable to leave a comment to enter I will add entry form tonight. Follow Threads n Scraps or Lil Angel Craft for bonus entries

Oh What do you Cook in the Summertime?!

I  hate heating up the kitchen during the 100 degree plus temps, so I love when I discover a new recipe or make a favorite old recipe.  This one is one of our favorites and you really can use anything you want to, but I made it easy this time with a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken.  $4.99 at Costco.

My Dad has a bumper crop of cucumbers and tomatoes so this is always a good way to use them.

Add some cheese, olives, whatever you have that your family likes.
I always use a balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing.  (I just find it goes well)  It goes together quick as well..

This here made up a big Fix n Mix Tupperware bowl so it gives us leftovers for lunches during the week.

If you haven't noticed, I have added a Recipe tab to the blog.  I'd love to have you share your favorite summer recipes...  feel free to email me and we will share them... Enjoy!!

Mason Jar Fun

As mentioned in last post, I love prepping and hosting a party of any type...  For the 4th of July I had such fun making these reusable glasses, from Mason Jars as well as condiment jars!  Started out with pint Mason Jars, drilled some holes, added grommets and the straws/the pumps....
Where to find the items to make?  Right now Mason jars are everywhere due to canning season.. Or you can find them in my Shop my Favorites page..  Grommets are from Lowe's, these pumps I found at Sally's Beauty Supply, but you can also recycle from a soap dispenser.
These straws were found in the Wilton area at my local Joann's..  A little shorter than I like but they worked as I waited till the last minute...

I love using these..  I'm sure there will be more projects to follow...

Hard to tell, but I even found a 1/2 gallon Mason Jar..  Didn't know what I was going to use it for but then my sister showed up for the party with these fun Daisies for me!  Was so excited to get to use it.

Love a Party?

Just this summer alone I have had 3 events/parties to plan and execute..  I was lucky enough to have my creative brother here for two of them and he was great at helping me implement what I had envisioned..  Boy I missed him for my third..  (But with him moving up in a couple of weeks, little does he know he will be back on staff)

What type of Party is your favorite to throw? Birthdays, a certain Holiday, Special occasion?  Bridal or Baby Showers or other Celebration?

For me, it's all of the above...   Problem is, I, myself,  lack the ideas or over think what I want or need to do or last minute I am running about town looking for those paper straws I just had to have.  Silly I know.  But admit it when you are looking for something it can become a "quest"...

Then I came across Kara's Party Ideas... Her Blog is amazing!!  So many ideas!!  From a Baby's Blessing to a Princess Party, Wedding & Baby Showers to Milestone Birthdays & just about every Holiday in between you can imagine...   I love that you can get ideas and instead of driving about from one side of town to the other, you can order MANY of the items right there in her Shop on the blog.

It's the one stop place for your party inspiration whether you are looking for simple ideas or elaborate.

Kara has been gracious enough donate a book for a giveaway!  In her book she shares what she used and did to put together some beautiful parties... Included in this book is a CD with the Printables for invites, toppers and other decorations...  I just love the creativity that pops right out of the book.  I had purchased the E-book for my reader and after going through it I knew I had to have a hard copy with the CD.  It's so helpful!!

Enter below to win your copy of Kara's Party Ideas.  If you don't want to wait to see if you win you can pick up your copy on my favorite product page..
